VinylCut 5 Software Union, Merge and Grouping What is the Differences, Step by Step Video
vinylcut union merge grouping differences
Knowing the differences between Union, Merge and Grouping will help you decide when to use Destructive vs Non Destructive editing.
Things to keep in mind about destructive vs non destructive editing is that one is more permanent then the other, so for instance if you sending a company or client a design to cut then it’s a nice time to keep the changes permanent, but when it comes to main projects files then non permanent is the way to go, to be able to make changes later if need be.

How are you guys today Has been in the final cut Will be looking at the difference between union merging group. Just have a quick intro here. Yeah, so today's video can be fine on softwaretraining.co.za t the other. Today we have quite a variety of software to cover, and we upload because daily. So just give it either for any new content. Otherwise, we're back in the programme. Yeah. Now, Uh, yeah. Union merchant group. The main difference is just don't, uh we had to explain it before I show you. And that is that, um, union. It is a way more destructive way of editing. So it will make all these shapes into one shape. Merge is a bit more destructive. In a sense, you will lose your colour, but you can undo it. And then group is the most nondestructive will just put the two together and make it You can move it together. Now if we actually have a quick look at this. So let's start with the union we selected to now, uh, locate Union will be navigating on top here to path, and then we go to a union shortcut key for that is old. You we select that. Now we can see this is one shape. So we go to point editor, you can see And then also on the right here. Now Leo's panels. You can also see that it is not turned into one shape. Mm. It's no real way of undoing it unless you use your undo button and it's still in your memory. Uh, history. Next emerge who? Select this. All of these. You can also go right click and, for instance, with path to getting a union. Or in this case, we're gonna go merge. So and then you can also get it from your top. Yeah, we select these, we go to object. Mhm. Then we'll go down till if I emerge a shortcut for those control shift B. Now you can see we have a cut out in the middle year where the two shapes overlap and the colour has changed also, too. The same. But if we had to break this apart, But I quickly show you, here's an object break apart. Now you can see we've got the two shapes again. So if we open this folder, they are still individual shapes. Let's do that and in group we can right click or go to object on top, and we go to group now. As you can see, this is still one shape. The nice part about this is unlike the others, you can still open the group, select the shape, remove it, scale it or do whatever you want to. So it's way more nondestructive and then just close your group and then still use it as one. Now, if we just quickly go to our print preview option, we can see the main differences now, as we can see here that the union has made it into one shape. Like I said, like a wild emerge, it's going to be cutting it the same as group. So if you're working with mergers, you're welcome to just work with groups when you're gonna cut. If you like the result, otherwise, use the union. If you want to turn it into one shape. Yes, so that's the difference between Union Emerging Group and final cut five. Let's clear to our website.
