VinylCut 5 the Union Feature How to Use it and Where To Locate it, Step by Step Video

vinylcut union feature explained

When sending a final design to a cutter as a pdf or svg file using the Union feature will help to keep the design outcome consistent.

The Union Feature is also a great way to make new and interesting shapes to use in your designs, but keep in mind when using the Union Feature it is permanent unlike the Weld Feature.

Hi there, guys. In today's video, the final cut will be looking at the union feature. Just have a quick intro. Yeah, Mhm. Okay, so today's video can be found on softwaretraining.co.za. Not see, uh, we have Yeah, quite a few variety of different Softwares we do cover. And also we are blood content daily or video. So just by the very new content, if we had back in the programme here now, the union tool is a few things you have to keep in mind with. It is that it only works on paths or shapes and to in order to preview if something is a path or shape or to see you will go on top you to this preview button. And when you click that you can see what is a path or a ship. Now, um, we we did cover Why these parts in another video. So if you're not sure, you can just cheque that out otherwise, also, another note as parts are rather destructive. So I mean, uh, anywhere to really undo it is with the undo button on top year. Other than like grouping objects, you can just one group it again So let's just move spots over here like it does work with multiple shapes. So and it's good to know and you guys will see with the colour. Once we union it, then the colours will change. There's two ways to find union either. You can go on top year, go to pass union short of you or what we can do. Is we right? Click on our selection, then we once again we go to Path and union. We select that you'll see the colours has changed and on the layers panel here it is now one shape. There's no groups. We cannot open it. And we cannot change those layers individually anyway. Move it and moves it as one. No, no. To keep in mind is that if you have an object that is not, merge into the main group, then that you can still break apart. If we just undo this quick, you know, Let's say take the one green here and it's up here. We select all our shapes. Then, uh, we are union it The path union. Once again, as you can see at the bottom here and the layers, it is still on shape But if we right click or we go to our object on top and we go to break apart from the menu, then you will see now this shape, we can move individually again, but with anything that's got holes in it and you break it apart, who will also break apart all the holes. So it's a good thing to keep in mind. And let's just quickly do a quick demo and preview. So now let's say we've got these shapes, but it's not union or it's just group in general what it would look like if you go to preview. We can see there that the vinyl cutter is gonna cut right through all these shapes. So you're gonna have a little triangle. You have to stick in afterwards. It's gonna be a big mess. So that is where the union comes in very handy. So if we quickly just union this path union, we're going to preview again. Now you can see it actually cuts it out in one shape, so the soul make your vinyls way more clean in that afterwards. So it's that is a very the very main reason why I will be using Union. Otherwise, if we just head to the website, you're quick. So if you guys navigate to softwaretraining.co.za uh, you can find this video and more videos like that, you can see we've got a variety of different software we do cover. And also we have a search option if you want to isolate your search if you don't find what you're looking for. And you can also say you can go to the request training video and we will make a video for you. Otherwise, thanks, guys for watching and cheers.
