VinylCut 5 Software the Type on Path Tools Ins and Outs, an In-depth Look at the Text Tool
vinylcut type on path tool
To create text that follows a specific shape it is important to first understand what a path is.
A path can be defined as any line or shape made with the various tools offered in VinylCut 5,
For example, using the pen tool to create a curved line can be considered an open path because the beginning point in the line does not meet the endpoint.

Alright, guys, in this video, we'll be looking at the putting text on a path to using vinyl cup. This is a quick entry. Mhm. Okay, so just a reminder. This video and more videos like this can be found on softwaretraining.co.za. That's the, uh we've got quite a range of different software we cover, and we do upload videos daily, so just keep an eye there. Okay? Back into the programme here. So now yeah, this feature, like, is pretty handy. I mean, I use it a lot all the time, and in the beginning, I used to just manually take the text and rotate them and align them onto a form of part. And that was just a waste of time. Once you discover this to, uh, you won't easily use anything else. So in any case, just keep in mind. This tool only works on paths. So if we grab the shape year, drag it in from the library. If we got a preview, anything that's red or blue is a part. And then if you can see it on the show principle, then it's most probably some form of graphics. That is not part so that these two won't work on it. And as you can see, if you're wondering if it's gonna be printing the actual path, that does not so as a path there. Once you read the text of the path, the programme is smart enough. Not cut or print the parts that we got a preview will see the path under it is gone. So let's just gonna look at a few of its features. We go to another page here where you've got these two circles now, Uh, let's say you take the normal circle. We locate out, too, which will be on the left panel here to panel the text you keep and click the icon who just got that black arrow or pop up more options we locate you type on a path to. Then, with this object selected, we'll click with our text and let's just try. Mm, Okay, so that's like, you know, it's pretty nifty. You can also type, and it will follow around any of these shapes, which I don't know if you would really want to use it, but it is very handy with a circle. Now let's say you want this text to be more aligned to the top here. What you could do. You could take your actual path and rotate this. But let's say you want to keep your design the same. Just move the text. Then another little prototype you can do is just select your path. Navigate to the beginning of it, and then you press space, and then it will move it till it's nicely aligned where you want it. Now let's grab the next year. Let's say you want the text in the inside of the silver. So let's say you've got this word and then on the inside so you'll do for this. You will go and talk to path while having your object selected. Then we'll go down the menu to reverse power. Select that. Now, If we go to our text tool and we type on this mm, so now you can see it's nicely on inside here. Once again, you can Okay, let's say you can see the text a bit close to each other, so let's say we want to add a bit of a space to it. Let's just close our library, then you wanna go to your text properties and then we go to track it. If we're just this larger or smaller, you will see should be changing the distance from each other. It's just like this. Mhm. Here we go. Legacy. You can kind of change the distance from one piece of text to the next, and that makes it a bit more readable. Another option that you can do is you go to the V offset. So now for this you can kind of bring the orientation more to the centre or the outside, depending on if you go to a plus or negative. So this is nice. If you wanna fine tune how close it is if you want better white spacing or something in that line. Yeah, that's the basics on the text on a path. Like I said, it's very and you can use it on most parts or all of them. You can draw a path of the pencil and so forth, and then your final reindeer will only cut the text and not the actual part. Let's just get to the website here, so we're gonna have a look. Okay, so you can maybe go to softwaretraining.co.za Goldfields today You can find videos like this and more. You'll see. We've covered quite a few different types of software here. We also have a search by option here on the top of right. If you want to search for something specific, you can just go ahead type there. If you do not find any videos you're looking for, you are also welcome to request a training video here. And then we will make that video for you otherwise enjoy cheers.
