Design Editor Practical Part One Using the SAi FlexiPRINT RTUV 22 Software (Part 3)

flexiprint design editor practical 1

Now when it comes to understanding concepts and workflows, I always find a good practical is very useful.

The beauty of the Design Editor is that you are able to create some handy templates to help aid your designs.

This video is part of a Mini-Series.
Next video covers Practical – Template Part 2.

Alright, guys, in today's video, we're gonna be looking at a practical while using the design editor, and this will be within flexi print. But before that, let's have a quick intro first. So today's video can be found on softwaretraining.co.za. co dot Z A. We make short and easy to watch problem solving videos, and we also have daily updates. Otherwise, we get into the programme here. So now, uh, this is gonna be a mini series on a practical of using the design editor. I'm gonna be flying through a lot of these options. So I'm not gonna cover too much in depth where, um I'm gonna be using though a lot of features that we looked at in the previous two videos. So now the overall goal of this is I'm gonna make a form of template where I can use design elements from but in the final project not print those templates. It just makes the design process slightly easier. Um, I'm thinking for this. I'm gonna make some form of Minecraft looking character, and then, um yeah, make some some form of template. We can have nice variations from So first things I wanna do I'm gonna open the design editor. Then what I wanna do under these layers on a crate and new layer. So I'm gonna go down these icons first one here, a new layer, and then I'm gonna call this one, let's call it layer template. So that's gonna be our template. And what I wanna do is make this one that it does not print and does not cut. So I've disabled those two. I'm gonna change the colours, go properties to maybe like, a red or more of a pink. So we know that is our template layer. So I'm gonna make sure this one is selected and let's quickly create a template. I'm gonna go on the side here now for the template. I wanna stick with incision design rules. So I'm gonna make, uh, or what I've done. I've enabled the grid on the view, So show grid. And then I went to grid, uh, rule a ruler and grid, and I've set the grid's actual size to five centimetre. So this way it will stick with that or make that the size of the grid. And then, under the actual view, I went to snap to and enable it to snap to the grid. Now, what I'm gonna do is I'm gonna take a rectangle and just make some preset little shapes. So for the body, I'm gonna maybe make it about three by two. The legs I want Let's make it well, maybe about three. So they're three by one. We're gonna do the same for the arm, so we'll even have just the one. We'll use that for the arm and the leg and the head. I'm gonna make a two by two so we can see that we've got the head. There we go. We've got our basic template. If we had to go to printing, this won't show. But now we can actually use this easily for our designs. So now with the design editor open, I'm gonna go to objects. As we can see here, we've got our design, um, layer template. So let's quickly rename this, So I'm gonna call this eight. Call this, uh, the limb, and then we'll call this one. It's triple click. I just remember that body. There we go. We've got these templates. So now if I wanna use it, I know the size is gonna be correct. But what I am gonna do, however, is go to view, go to snap and then just able to snap for the grid. So now I can free place it more nicely to where I want it. Now, what I'm gonna do is I'm gonna select all three of these right click, and then we go duplicate. Now I've got those rectangles I'm gonna drag and drop that into our layer one. And now these layers, I'm just gonna move them off here is printable. So what I wanna do is let's change the colour. Um, yeah, it's not really much of a skin colour here, so let's quickly let's make one. I'm gonna go open our colour here, set this to, uh, HHS B. And they take this down a bit, See if I can get a kind of a skin colour going. Here we go. I'll work for now. So what I'm gonna do is I'm gonna lick this shape, use an eyedropper, and just quickly, uh, do the same with all these shapes. Here we go. We got our three now. I can simply move this control drag. Move this for the leg. I do the same. Put one by the arm, another one by the other arm and then move the head down. Not sure this is not 100% a micro character. You could now, obviously the actual eyes and so forth just to spice it up a bit. And then, um yeah, then we've got our little whoops. Wrong button. But our little character, we can, uh, make a variations on this, and we have it here. I can also select this go combine group and then under our group here on our design editor we can name this, So maybe if I wanna name a group, just keep in mind that if I double click it, it's gonna open. The group don't know what happened there. So what you wanna do for naming groups? You wanna left, click and left Click slowly again. So not too quick on each other. There, we can name it. So maybe call this character one. And then we know we got character one with six objects in it under layer one. So I'm gonna not expand that one. And now you know, for the S of the T to it will take a bit longer if I carry, uh, fill in all these details. So let's just zoom this. Maybe what I can do quickly pause the video, add some more details and then carry on from there. OK, now we're back. I'll fill in these two little characters. We've got Farmer Joe and Farmer Jane just for what it's worth, and it's just something I want to point out quick. If you're looking on the design editor, what could happen often is let's say if we look at our template layer while designing some of these objects, even though I was working on the other layer will end up in our, uh, layer template. So then you wanna simply just select all those and move it to layer one. Otherwise, when you finally cut in that those layers won't be visible and it can be a problem, then I wanna quickly just wrap this up, select her so drag a selection box over her and then we go right Click Combine Group. Now we've got two groups, so I'm gonna call this character two, two. There we go. We've got character, one character, two, all built from a template which will not be printed, so, uh, very handy, but yeah, Before we carry on with this, um, if we head to softwaretraining.co.za. co dot Z a you guys will notice we've got a variety of different Softwares we do cover. And you can also isolate your search on the top, right? If you do not, however, find the training videos you're looking for, just simply go. Yeah, request the training video, fill in the mini form, and then we'll do our best to try and make that for you. But otherwise thanks, guys, for watching and cheers.
