mm by the guys. In today's video, we're gonna be looking at the serial number, um, feature for the text tool, and we'll be starting with the prefix. But before that, let's have a quick intro first. Mhm. So today's video can be found on softwaretraining.co.za z. We make sure that easy to watch problem solving videos, and we also have daily updates. Otherwise, we're back in the programme now when it comes to the actual serial number feature under your very age variable text. This is great if you want to identify a product if you're doing, let's say, mass production, Um, some use it for expiry dates and so forth. I would personally use the date function for that and then, But this is a great way to keep track of items so you can always If someone makes a complaint about it or anything like that, you can see the batch number and so forth. So it's kind of like an identification form of number for your product. Now track it already works does come with a nice little feature where you can custom we set that up Now. My apologies. If we go into it. So I'm gonna create the selected text tool, makes a new text, and then we can call this just I'm so called a serial and no, this information we will not see once we enable variable text, there will only be seen ceremony. So I say enable and make sure my take size and all of that is right with and then I can look over a year under the first setting. We're normally by default by date. Now we're gonna set this to Cyril and a now a serial number like I mentioned is pretty much it's a string of information. You can reference back to the programme or to the developers or manufacturing company, and then they can use it to kind of identify what product is and so forth. Now the prefix is the first option. Yet this will be the string that's in the beginning of your serial number. So depending on the way you want to formulate or structured your serial numbers, this will vary. So in my case, I'm just gonna use it a softwaretraining.co.za So I'll go S t. So if I see the beginning, I know. Okay, This is for softwaretraining.co.za. Let's say you've got multiple different. Uh uh. Let's say, uh, parent companies, but child companies this way, you kind of see which one it is for so forth. There's many different ways to go about structuring this. So my example might not be very relevant for actual production, but this should give you a good idea of how to read the serial number, how to set it out. So then, uh, prefects, we're gonna make s t. So I know when I see this. Okay, this i softwaretraining.co.za nd then the rest will follow, and then I'm just gonna say Okay, for now, I would say the change in and then as we can see here, we've got S t 0000. We'll go into the other values, Uh, but later on. But for now, this is pretty much what the prefix means when it comes to the serial number. So it's the one that comes before the numbers and the rest. That's kind of the prefect. So it's a setup, you can say, but yeah, I'm that just about wraps the prefix. If we had to adhere to softwaretraining.co.za z Day you guys will notice we've got a variety of different Softwares will recover. And also you can isolate your search on the top, right? And if for some reason you don't find the videos you're looking for, you always go here requests a training video filling in uniform. And then we'll do our best to try and make that for you. But otherwise, thank God is watching and chills.
